Welcome to the Georgia Board for Christian Counselors (GBFCC).  Below are the definitions of the types of counselor the Georgia Board for Christian Counselors certifies:

• A Certified Pastoral Counselor is one who counsels either under a aty or under a Church or related ministry which is certified by either the State of Georgia Composite Board, the Georgia Board for Christian Counselors, a Denomination, or a Church. This designation allows that counselor to practice anywhere in the State of Georgia. They can be a minister or pastoral counselor and may or may not hold degrees in counseling.
• A Certified Christian Counselor is one who holds a master’s degree in counseling or higher and focuses on providing guidance, support , and short-term interventions for personal, family, social, or career-related issues. They practice either in private practice or with a group. Their degrees must have counseling courses in their concentration at some point. They can also practice anywhere in the State of Georgia. They also must apply for, have three references, and go through a background check.

Certified Pastoral and Christian Counselors will be receive the following:

• Our magnetic lapel pin, which matches the new logo
• An ID badge holder and clip so you can display your certification
• Membership in the Georgia Christian Counselors Association. All members will be able to fill out their profile when their certification is processed completely.
• 10% discount on any courses or conferences put on or supported by either the Georgia Board for Christian Counselors or the Georgia Christian Counselors Association.
